The Best Strollers for Twins

by Twins Magazine

Why These are the Best Strollers for Twins

All new parents of twins want to make sure they are buying the very best strollers.

However, the process of reviewing and comparing 10 or 20 different double strollers is beyond overwhelming. There are so many strollers on the market for twins due to the increasingly large birthrate of twins over the last decade.

Based on our firsthand experience, as parents of twins, we established the following criteria when creating our list of the best strollers for twins:

  • Have excellent ratings
  • Affordable
  • Can be easily purchased online

The 4 Types of Double Strollers You Will Need

There are four main types of strollers parents of twins will need within the first two years of having twins. Each one of these double strollers serves a very specific purpose, but need not all be purchased at once.

The first type of double stroller you will find essential is one that allows you to simply snap your car seats into a frame and quickly get moving. It should be lightweight and simple to open, snap car seats into and maneuver.

The second type of double stroller is going to be the stroller your kids “graduate” into after they no longer fit comfortably into their initial car seat. This is a stroller you will want to invest in since it will be one you often use for longer outings.

The third type of double stroller you will need for twins is a double umbrella stroller. These strollers will be needed for travel and on short outings, such as a walk around the block or a quick trip to the store. This stroller should be lightweight, compact and durable.

The fourth type of stroller parents of many twins will want is a double jogging stroller. These are not just great strollers for runners, These should be your choice for any outdoor outings. They can be used for any off-road outings. From the park to a nature hike, these strollers have larger, treaded wheels that are essential for most outdoor activities.

The Best Double Stroller for Newborn Twins

This is an easy choice for us. While there are two popular brands of double strollers often used with car seats, our recommendation has many advantages.

1. Baby Trend Universal Double Snap-N-Go Stroller

Baby Trend Universal Double Snap-N-Go StrollerWe personally used this stroller with our newborn twins. Of the many products we needed to purchase before welcoming newborn twins into our home, this purchase was one of the easiest to make.

Recommended Weight: 5lbs to 40lbs

Lowest Price: Amazon.com

Price: $75.34

  • At 18 lbs, it is extremely lightweight and easy to transport.

Cons:

  • Small wheels made to be used predominantly indoors and on paved sidewalks
  • Lightweight design means it can only endure normal wear and tear
  • Some car seats do not fit in this. To be sure, contact their Customer Service department.

An Alternative to the Baby Trend Double Snap-N-Go Stroller is the Joovy Twin Roo+ Car Seat Stroller is the number 1 competitor.

While this stroller is a decent alternative, it weighs almost twice as much and cost more than $40 more. It is a very similar product and there is not a clear reason why paying more for it would benefit you in any way.

In summary, the first stroller parents of twins will need is one that allows them to keep their newborns in car seats while placing them into a lightweight, simple double stroller. In our opinion, the Baby Trend Double Snap-N-Go Stroller is the best stroller for the money and will certainly make your lives as parents of newborn twins easier.

  • It’s Not Light–This is not as compact and lightweight as the other strollers, but that also means it can hold some weight and takes on the elements in ways the other strollers can’t.

In summary, when making your choices for strollers for your twins, consider the different ages and stages of development, as well as the different uses.

The only stroller most parents will need during the first few months is the Baby Trend Universal Double Snap-N-Go Stroller. It will allow you to easily transport your sleeping machines.

As they grow, you will find everyday strollers, umbrella strollers, and the off-road jogging strollers to help you fully enjoy your new life as a parent of twins.
